Great summary, Brad.

Corruption and different standards of justice have been going on for a long time. What’s new is how in-your-face blatant they are about it now. They know that we know what they are, but they are not concerned in the least.

The scariest thing is the thought of so many backers. They couldn't get away with such blatant *injustice* if public opinion was a (proper) 9 to 1 against them, or at least being expressed.

Is it coming? Or are too many in the tank, with vested interests or worse...poisoned hearts.

I was gonna say that Hunter is the Fredo Corleone of the Biden Crime Family, but that would make Joe into Don Corleone, when Joe is actually the one who's as articulate as Fredo. Any chance Mr. Magoo also ran a criminal organization? (Cue mashup of Mr Magoo and The Sopranos: "Woke up this morning, got myself confused...?")

But to continue the analogy: Social Justice Inc has wisely installed a brain-dead front man to be the dopey face of their criminal enterprise, and they will break any leg or spirit to spread their extortion racket unimpeded across the globe: "Nice business/family/company/country you got there, it would be a shame if anything happened to it...but if you promise to raise high the Pride flag and put an In This House We Believe sign in the window, I think we can help you..."

You will wear the ribbon and kick up 10%, you don't want us to bring out Kamala, do you??

In the name of the Big Guy, the Failson and the Holy Marginalized, Praise DEI.

Amen.

Joe Biden *is* Mr. Magoo, isn't he.

It's hidden and ugly mafia types pulling the power strings, so it's not a bad mashup.

When Hunter comes up, I ALWAYS think about this video:

Still holds up.

Thank you, Brad. I have you budgeted for a paid sub soon.

The first thing I thought of was what charges does this deal preclude in the future. Does double jeopardy apply?

Expand full comment

That is my concern, too. Is there hidden immunity buried in this deal that somehow prohibits future charges on any "related" matter?

The hegemon (sp?) disappears its man.

Edit: it's its, not it's.

I thought that the number of black folks locked up for offenses similar to Hunter's constituted proof that Joe was right: there is systemic racism in the Justice Department, and he's the racist.

I’m not buying it. The prosecuting attny was a Trump appointee with no background of avoiding prosecuting Dems or Republicans. And now, with pit bulls like Jim Jordan and Comer conducting investigations, for over a year now? If there was something there to find, they would find it. They just cannot scrape up anything (crimes) or haven’t yet, regarding the laptop stuff. As for the tax evasions, he owed $100000 plus in taxes but had been making payments. So repubs can scream foul play but can’t back it up. There may be a two legal tiered system, hence his seemingly (to some) light sentence, but it’s not primarily political in nature. Comparing one case to another is difficult, as you have the nuances of the laws, the evidence in each case, unequally skilled lawyers, different judges... I think the two tiered system is grounded in money. Money buys you the very best legal counsel. Having money automatically makes you seem more “respectable”. One thing is for sure, if you are rich, you will typically come out far ahead in legal entanglements. And thats the most critical problem and we, as people of this country, still can’t see our way to remedying. We don’t demand our legislators, GOP or democratic, fix it.

Trump has lots of money. If you're right and it's not political, and only comes down to money, Trump wouldn't have faced more investigations, indictments, impeachments, arrests, and trials than any president in history.

No other President has pulled something like MaraLago or like the so many other shenanigans he’s pulled. He’s no victim...be asks for it because he’s arrogant, a narcissist and a man of poor character who makes millions off his low and middle income fans whenever facing investigations and criminal charges. It is, or was, just a game for him. He feels, or felt, invincible.

If Trump hadn’t had money, he’d have been arrested long ago and sat in jail unable to post bail. For gods sake he had classified military and nuclear information at his residence and stalled in returning when asked. You try that...see what happens.

Biden should try that and see what happens. Wait, he did. No fed raids, no 24 hour news cycle for weeks, no breathless live TV reporting, no slew of articles about the "end of democracy" and his "disdain for the office", no federal indictment watch, no leaked jury deliberations, no live TV arrest watch, no endless arraignment speculation, no people like you calling out Biden's exact same behavior (which went on years longer, the documents in less secure storage) Next up, Hillary Clinton's classified documents....

Nope. Biden turned them over, as did Mike Pence.

Biden had them much longer, and he and Pence only turned them over after the feds raided Trump's house, and Hillary destroyed things that were subpoenaed and obviously you don't like Trump but one day the feds might be targeting somebody you do like, and maybe then you'll see how dangerous this all is.
