As you note, there are certain demographics that demonstrate the trend. i would like to add one: affluence. One can argue that the wealthier have more access to health care and thus less "undiagnosed" mental issues, but I doubt it. In fact I would argue that a mental disorder is a "luxury good" among the rich and idle. The poor and idle manifest their mental problems through addiction. (The rich do also but are a less conspicuous.) The same works with oppression where the sons and daughters of Drs and executives wander the campuses of Ivy league college talking about their oppression. Again, the truly oppressed are too damn busy surviving to make a spectacle of themselves.
