The fact that everyone has settled on framing it as Biden’s “age” rather than his

“dementia” means they will go after trump for the same thing. This language is intentional.

It's a nice attempt to drag the conversation into an area that makes it easier to score points. Rachel Maddow also helpfully mentioned that he still rides a bike - which of course is immediately responded to by video of Joe fallen of his bike and a monkey successfully riding a bike.

Same with the use of the term gaffe - so far they have avoided the term "senior moment". That's the same sort of language you hear from people with relatives in the early stage of dementia where they or the relatives are still in a bit of denial about what's happening because the alternative is so horrific to contemplate.

exactly. for months the press has been focusing on the ‘Age’ angle. every article will have a sentence about 3 rows down saying something like “Mr. Trump who is 77”...

The Dems' insane levels of denial and of cognitive dissonance will make an amazing psychological case study sometime in the future, with their behavior being compared to cult members and other dead-end True Believers who twisted their brains into knots rather than accept the simple truth.

First, for allowing Biden to run again and for putting out the message that anyone who even considered running a primary campaign would be an enemy of the Party in perpetuity (only Dean Phillips disobeyed, but he, like Trump, is protected by a private fortune), and waving away every objection with But Trump! or "the people are too stupid to love Bidenomics, but a few hundred hours of propaganda is sure to do the trick!"; and then, somehow even more brazenly insane, trying to deny what is blatantly obvious to everyone not on their payroll or pledged to their cult: that Biden is obviously senile, or at the very least wayyy too old for even this term, never mind another one. His glassy eyes, his stiff gait, his halting speech and inability to complete a full sentence, his refusing to sit for a single adversarial interview for many years—are we really supposed to believe the preposterous accusations of "ageism" (LOL) or that the media is biased against him (monumental LOL), rather than our own lying eyes?!?

Our Democracy™ is dying! The Orange Beast is Hitler 2.0! The most important election of our lifetime!—and they send out Mr. Magoo as their leader and champion?!

Allowing Joe Biden to run for a second term may just be the stupidest, most dishonest and most reckless political act of my lifetime—Trump really has destroyed the Dems' brains and turned them all into neurotic cripples is the only possible explanation I can think of.

Of course, you are totally correct in your assessment of the ridiculousness of what the Democrats are doing. But, they intend to avoid the historical comparison to cultists by one expedient: they aim to be the victors writing the history books.

Wilson was a visionary whose League of Nations was ahead of it's time, JFK's White House was Camelot, Biden was Scranton Joe who saved America from the Melon-hued Menace.

Watching US events from the outside / from overseas, my sense is the whole country is imploding, not just Biden's presidency. The failure of institutions (DOJ, FBI, etc), the border collapse with 8 million illegal immigrants, the 33 trillion debt, the corrupt mainstream media, the doubtful election integrity, the woke virus infection of academia and business, the weaponisation of government to attack freedom of speech and political opponents (check out Racket News / Matt Taibbi's breaking story regarding CIA involvement in the Russia collusion hoax), the crazy push for renewable energy to replace reliable base-load power, and on and on. I get the sense the USA, if not Western Civilisation, is heading full speed toward a cliff.

Even worse is watching most of the media desperately pretend that the obvious isn't happening. A lot of this feels like the late stages of socialist countries with the elites clinging to power.

you are watching the ruling class implode. (which also drags in their adherents.) The normies have a chance to turn this around.

I remember a criticism by the miltary historian Max Hastings that said our best and brightest dont go to places lie West Point, so our military leadership is often second rate. that rings true. Most Americans with talent put that talent to work in private enterprise. The second team ends up in institutions and politics. We are unfortunately dealing with the results of that.

as i explained below, the MH comment was regarding the 20th century but it still applies in the USA in general, not specifically to the academies which I explained below. No doubt the requirements are extremely high and all of the people I know who went to any of the three were first rate across the board, present company included. but as i said below, you do have to explain Milley and several other members of the JCS to me.

TBF Hastings was talking about the early 20th century when Brits sent their best to serve the empire and the US service academies represented a free education for intelligent kids of lesser means but that being said you have to explain Mark Milley and much of the recent JCS to me.

OTOH I have seen another problem re my example. I ran a PE backed company several years ago and my Principal was a Harvard guy with Wall Street and Bain experience. His brilliance covered for his fundamental lack of business skills. he would have been a much better Doctor, but he chose the dollars. Also, a few years ago, a friend took me to a MIT alum event where I met brilliant kids writing sophisticated options trading strategies who could have been doing cutting edge Physics. total waste in my opinion.

My comment was unfair to you; you have no way of knowing what I was referring to: Our honorable host, Brad Neaton, is a graduate of the Academy, and he is certainly on my list of the best and the brightest. As so often happens with me, my attempt to be arch fell flat. My apologies.

No worries and no apologies necessary but much appreciated.

as i told Brad all of the people i know who went to the academies are first rate in all ways. I think the Matt Hastings comment could be seen as gratuitus on my part and probably required further explanation.

I have to admit ,i would never have said it on another forum but as the people here are both intelligent and easy going I felt pretty comfortable.

The Democrats have painted themselves into a corner from which escape seems to be almost impossible. That makes them even more dangerous than they already have been for years. I shudder to think what they might be willing to do to hold on to the power they have amassed in every cultural institution. The Biden/Harris situation threatens everything they have worked for, just when they were on the verge of total victory. Dark days ahead I fear.

Most likely the real fear the Democrats have is that he will die before the election leaving Harris (up in smoke) to run as president. Then even Mickey Mouse as a write in candidate could beat her. The California clown believes he could be nominated, but his appeal will poll less well in states where people will look at his miserable record of running California into the ground. Hillary has not become younger nor more popular in time. Not many choices for the Democrats. Probably & very ironically, their best bet would be Kennedy. How about that?

Expand full comment
Ministry of Truth's avatar

Honestly I think their fears of looking racist if snubbing Harris are overblown. Democrat party voters already rejected her thoroughly the last time around and there weren't many who screamed "racism" then. The media can spin it into something like "the racist half of our country wouldn't vote for her" and it really only is the corporate media that can make an accusation of racism stick enough to matter.

I don't know if Kennedy's Covid/vaccine heresy is palatable to any Dem, even though it would be a great way to attack Trump who was behind the vaccines and let some governors run wild with lockdowns.

Democrats just need him to stay alive (even in a weekend at Bernie's way) until the convention. Then they can let him bow out and nominate someone else behind closed doors, avoiding all that messy "voting" stuff. This is not the time to let the peons have a voice, that would be a threat to democracy

There aren't drugs to cover Brandons mental decay at this point. Brandon was losing his shit back before 2020 yet the MSM, Obama and all the rest of the corrupt DC pinheads covered for his sorry ass, lied to enough idiots and pulled enough backhanded election meddling to put his ass in the White House.

Now with 8 months to go till the Presidental election America has this train wreck in the Oval Office or do we ?

What stunt have the D's cooked up to remove Brandon that will surely somehow implicate MAGA or at the very least the GOP ?

Americans need to wake up or our country which was the beacon of hope for many will fall.

I wonder if he actually does want to give interviews etc.

Like he asks Jill and the aides and they just humour him by telling him yes it’s all booked and then they either

1) just don’t bother and he forgets he asked or

2) they tell him what a great interview he gave and he’s so forgetful he just agrees that he did give a great interview.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they actually had someone in his administration pretend to be a journalist and ask him questions to make him think he’s doing it.

It's an assessment of affect, stiffness, anger, gait, protesting too much, word choice and the dozen other visible clues that this patient is suffering from senile dementia. That, not losing any number of memories, is the basis for my conclusion. I'm currently entering the early stages of non-Alzheimer's dementia as a result of the natural processes of the hydrocephalus. I can perceive the first two of these - increasingly bad expressive aphasia and an abnormal gait. I have that in common with our President. Last evening my lack of balance caused me to get very friendly with the floor. We called the emergency squad because my wife cannot get me upright from the floor.

Mr Trump, who can and always could wipe up the ground with FJB, is now 77. He doesn't look it. He doesn't senile it (like FJB). Trump is Trump. FJB is nobody and he always has been. BUT he has that magic "D" (for dirtbag) after his name or he'd never have gotten away with this in 2020.

The nasty (literally) little creep tests my ability to NOT swear. His campaign team needs to keep children away from him (in case it isn't obvious). Far, far away from him. I hope the youngest granddaughter's mother keeps her away. I've seen too many photos of him going it for the privates jab. He's fast. Then there's that little boy of Hunter's... I worry about him, too. FJB's dirty little secret isn't a secret. I hate pedos. Just hate them. IMNSHO, they all deserve to die slowly and painfully.

I'm not sure how homogenic black people are as a voting bloc. Harris (and Biden) did put a lot of black people in prison, however that might be desirable for people who would otherwise have to live around those people.
