Elon Musk's fine quoted words really need to go out to each and every one of the millions of full-of-shit virtue-signallers who now populate our universities, government bureaucracies, MSM media pundits and luvvies and assorted other have-your-cake-and-eat-it merchants right across the Western world

the 2024 election is a year away, and all of the bluster about the muslims not voting for Biden is going to be just that - words in the wind when they go and vote for a senile old man who won't even know what planet he's on by the end of his second term

“Here’s what happens if Donald Trump dies while running in the 2024 presidential election.” — A headline from Business Insider.

The Insider publications are owned by a German company with a WEF globalist agenda. It is a cesspool of globalist-favoring propaganda that favors Democrats because Democrat is the party that favors the WEF globalist agenda.

With respect to this argument about free speech, I am of the mind that foreign-owned media be held to a different standard for having access to platform media that delivers by push. I have been thinking about this conundrum of how to combat propaganda and I think the push vs pull differentiation is key. If you think about the old ways we accumulated our news, we had to purchase a newspaper or magazine. Later we had to turn on the TV and switch the channel and make time to watch the programming.

Today because the devices keep updating our feeds and "push" content into our devices that we carry around with us 24x7, we are passive captive targets of influence. So in effect, our free speech is being corrupted by this constant notification and interruption. We need these devices for life today. We need them for work. And those devices are exploited by those trying to manipulate us by pushing false, misleading and often dangerous information.

The TikTok push of Bin Laden's manifesto is an example. That was clearly a move by the CCP for geopolitical benefits. We need to put up a firewall for foreign-pushed content.

Just read that Meta canceled hundreds of bogus Chinese accounts that were doing election influencing. I say more of that and much less of that for accounts owned by real American people.

If you remember the Twitter files, there were quite a few people who were blocked on Twitter on an NGO claiming they are Russian bots or sockpuppets where it turned out these were real people in the USA. I wouldn't necessarily trust Metas claims that these were Chinese accounts.

Wow, that's hard to believe that meta would cancel anything that might warp people's brains to go with more communism.

Why make a distinction between foreign-pushed and domestic-pushed content?

Good question. Because of 1A rights and the risk that the power is captured by those that would lie and call information that is pushed and accurate disinformation.

We owe all of our citizens near absolute (except the yelling fire in a crowded theater thing) freedom of speech, but we owe nothing to the people of the rest of the world.

I would hope for the sake of Ireland & freedom loving people everywhere, that Ireland has a Supreme Court that can strike down this legislation as contrary to their constitution. This is truly frightening. Perhaps it may trigger a new wave of Irish leave taking if this truly passes.

It might also be an EU court that has a say in this since it concerns basic human rights. While there isn't really a right to absolute freedom of speech this also concerns the right to privacy and the right not to self-incriminate.

I was an Outside subscriber for close to 20 years. It was almost like my bible in the 2000s. I finally let my subscription lapse because the content started trending more to DEI. Fine for them, but i found myself with a stack of unread issues on my coffee table. My point: I've read more articles from Outside, via Euphoric Recall, over the past couple of weeks than I have over the past couple of years. Thanks for sifting through the chaf.

Please check out the link to Irish Green Party Senator Pauline O'Reilly. She exactly says you are too free & she wants to take away your freedom as she sees fit. What she decides is right will be so & disagreement will not be tolerated & if her proposal goes through it will be law. A blonde Pol Pot in the making with reeducation ‘camps’ soon to follow.

At least she is not trying to weasel out of it by claiming it's just about "hate speech" and "misinformation".
