Michael Crichton was a brilliant man. And he's spot on. I've had this happen in my life - where i am reading about something that I know a lot about (e.g., patent laws and cases) in a non-specialty publication, and they just flounder and have no idea what they are writing about. And this is before expressly-biased "reporting" was a thing.

Can you imagine what it must be like to have to attend any sort of family gathering with Taylor Lorenz?

I visualize a room of people sitting on broken glass.

Some time ago I read something about the earthquake in Turkey moving the tectonic plates, literally reversing cause and effect (wet streets cause rain). I think it's somewhat forgivable since it's just a stupid error and they didn't blame it on climate change. It only gets worse as soon as the topic is political.

As for the family gathering with Tay Tay - that probably happens on Zoom (while still wearing a mask) so you can just mute her. If she's even a real person and not a clever satirical persona or AI construct someone came up with ;)

The pathetic Taylor Lorenz is still a WaPo columnist? Speaks volumes.

But the scariest is the University of Minnesota professor. Our big mistake was laughing at people like that instead of realizing they were dangerous and putting an immediate stop to it.

Brandon Johnson is beyond hypocritical. The tragic irony of the Chicago Teachers Union sending delegations to Venezuela to witness the Chavez socialist miracle around 2003 (true story!), and CTUs own Mayor Johnson now wanting to send back the victims of the *very socialism he advocates* is too much. Even for that windy old city of legendary corruption, he's forging new depths.

Very worthwhile work, Brad. Has anyone ever come up with a use for biological anthropoligists?

Ya gotta love these lists. I'm awed and amazed at the things people will say, in public no less. Still, the woo-woo in me has to give a supportive shoutout to ecosexual Sonya Semyonova. I haven't read the context of the quote so, who knows, perhaps she's batshit crazy, but at first blush I gotta respect her deep connection with the natural world. Now, nobody is claiming you can take an oak to the prom. What we can do though is refuse to feel separate from nature. Who is nuts? Is it the woman resting her back against a majestic tree, or an airport full of strangers, everyone glancing anxiously at their phones and wondering why everyone else seems to be having more fun? If a redwood gets Sonyas juices flowing, I say good for her -- at least someone's getting some.

She IS batshit crazy. She's looking for attention, bored, unable to find a suitable mate, and is just plain silly. Loving a tree is nothing new. People have been loving inanimate objects forever. They love their cars, their homes, anything that makes them feel good (at least some cars have a phallic gear shift!). Why anyone would give her the limelight is beyond me.

She’s certainly waiting for a storm, then a branch could fall down & she could get whittling.

You mean they are not sending us their best? RACIST!

To be fair to e Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, he well knows he is not going to be able to turn around the Democrats disastrous border policy. So he’s doing what he knows could work; asking the party of tax & spend to send more money.

Seeing the name Eric Levitz (of NY Magazine) reminded me that this might be a good time to submit my contestant for Quote of the Year, the words that should be sealed in a time capsule to best illustrate what passed for enlightened discourse in 2023.

Levitz tweeted this in October about Hamas' wild time when they crashed that desert rave:

"Last night, I asserted that this report indicated that babies were beheaded. This was an overstatement. I should have said that the report established that babies were found headless, a fact that lends plausibility to claims of beheading, but which does not prove them."

Guess those baby heads just popped off spontaneously! I mean, we all know that sometimes if you hold a baby too close, sometimes its darn head will just pop right off....LOLOL

And these are the people who claim we should all be muzzled so they can tell us what to think, say, believe and who to vote for—Plato's philospher-kings crossed with Mike Judge's "Idiocracy".

I salute you Eric Levitz, for making me laugh so hard and for proving once again that there are some things so stupid they could only be believed by an American journalist.

Thanks Brad. I appreciate that you help collect these for me!

I was sure that this would be a Trump quote!

Overall, combining the quotes from this column & recents others, there is the beginnings of a race war in this country already. Immigrants have always been used by the American aristocracy to provide cheap labor & undercut the living wages of the American workers. Attacks initiated by Black Americans against Asian Americans is at an all time high, but largely ignored by our media. It’s a very sad prognosis & ignores both history & population mathematics. Ironically, the strongest poison is coming from the Left.
