The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be blunt force head injury and the manner of death homicide—something that even the NBC article states. It is only the headline that obfuscates.

Hale’s manifesto was leaked on Monday. If black students had been targeted in the name of white supremacy, the manifesto would have leaked immediately. But Hale targeted the school because of “white privilege,” so they tried to memory-hole the whole incident, and retcon the narrative to “gun violence.”
