Leftists are absolutely losing their minds after Elon Musk reinstated Trump’s Twitter account yesterday. The move comes after more than 15 million people voted in a poll asking if it should be done.
“The people have spoken,” said Musk. “Trump will be reinstated. Vox Populi, Vox Dei.” “Vox Populi, Vox Dei” is Latin for “The voice of the people is the voice of God.”
As soon as the decision came down, the extreme caterwauling and gnashing of teeth was awesome to behold. The extent to which Trump lives rent free in some of these people’s heads is remarkable.
Never mind that Trump has said repeatedly and as recently as Saturday that he wouldn’t be returning to Twitter and would be staying on his own social media site, Truth Social.
“I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on Truth,” Trump said back in April, when news broke that Musk was going to buy Twitter and take the company private. “The bottom line is, no, I am not going back to Twitter.”
Interestingly, there are also contractual issues involved with Trump using Twitter. A filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission states that he agreed to post all of his posts on Truth Social first and must wait at least six hours before posting the same message to other social media platforms.
“President Trump has agreed to first channel any and all social media communications and posts coming from his personal profile to the Truth Social platform before posting that same social media communication and/or post to any other social media platform that is not Truth Social (collectively, ‘Non-TMTG Social Media’) until the expiration of ‘DJT/TMTG Social Media 6-Hour Exclusive’ which means the period commencing when DJT posts any social media communication onto the Truth Social Platform and ending six (6) hours thereafter; provided that he may post social media communications from his personal profile that specifically relates to political messaging, political fundraising or get-out-the vote efforts at any time on any Non-TMTG social media platforms.”
However, it remains uncertain how long Trump will last:
Musk joking about this is going to drive Leftists so crazy that some will need to be institutionalized.
It’s worth highlighting that the justification for Trump’s ban was ridiculous, and that these were his last two tweets:
In response to Trump’s reinstatement, U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr., D-N.J., called on Twitter users to remember the “insurrection” on January 6: “682 days ago insurrectionists ransacked the US Capitol and hours later 68% of House republicans voted to finish the rioters’ job and make trump a dictator," Pascrell wrote. "Never forget it."
Liz Cheney took the opportunity to remind people that they should tune in to the Jan. 6 hearing, which is likely to go on forever. "With Trump back on Twitter, it’s a good time to watch this Jan 6 hearing. It covers each of Trump’s tweets that day, including those that have been deleted, and features multiple Trump WH staff describing his inexcusable conduct during the violence.”
Derrick Johnson, president of the NAACP, urged advertisers to halt work with Twitter.
“In Elon Musk’s Twittersphere, you can incite an insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, which led to the deaths of multiple people, and still be allowed to spew hate speech and violent conspiracies on his platform,” Johnson said in a statement. “Any advertiser still funding Twitter should immediately pause all advertising.” He added, “If Elon Musk continues to run Twitter like this, using garbage polls that do not represent the American people and the needs of our democracy, God help us all.”
God help us all.
Scott Galloway, a business professor at NYU Stern, implied that Russian bots had tilted the poll in favor of Trump’s reinstatement. He also claimed that “Russia operated bot farms to sway our presidential elections in favor of Trump.” Amazing. You’d think that someone who makes a living in academia would be informed enough to know that’s completely false. I believe this is what they call “disinformation,” Scott.
MSNBC’s Frank Figliuzzi echoed Galloway’s stupidity:
For Musk to reinstate Trump after a short poll “shows he is not remotely serious about safeguarding the platform from hate, harassment and misinformation,” said Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the the Anti-Defamation League, who also claimed the decision was “dangerous and a threat to American democracy”:
The head of the ADL threatening a private company to keep the former president off Twitter seems like a much greater “threat to democracy.”
This dude is such a spaz:
How many people will die because of this?
MSNBC saying MSNBC things:
“Trump was banished from Twitter not because of cancel culture, but because he attempted a coup using Twitter as a tool and THEN CONTINUED RILING UP HIS MOB EVEN AFTER IT FAILED,” said Huffington Post White House correspondent, S.V. Dáte.
The narcissism of this woman is truly something to behold. Rather than just leave the platform yourself, which you’re convinced is now a dreaded hellscape because Trump’s account has been reinstated, you’re going to try ruining it for everyone else. It’s amazing that some folks actually think they have the right to say what is and isn’t an acceptable online experience for others.
The truth is that these people are all dying for Trump to tweet something so they can revel in their self-righteous pseudo-outrage. And the media would love nothing more than a second “Trump bump.”
