There was no one onboard the Pequod who could talk Ahab out of his deranged quest for vengeance—they tried debate, they tried reminding him this wasn't what they'd signed up for, they plotted removing him, they made vague threats...none of it mattered.

Sometimes people become so absolutely intoxicated by the idea of Vendetta, they feel like they've received a monumental cosmic humiliation that strikes them as the greatest possible affront and humiliation, and nothing else matters except enacting revenge. They would gladly burn down their own house if it burns down their enemy's house too, they would gladly sacrifice their own lives if it means killing their enemy too and receiving satisfaction for the intolerable outrage they've suffered.

Who knew that "Moby Dick", America's greatest novel, also worked as prophecy? (I guess when you dig deep into the human soul you can write history and prophecy simultaneously.)

The people who own and operate America, and their handmaidens in culture and academia, consider Trump as the foul demonic incarnation of all they most loathe, and his 2016 election as the political equivalent of wrecking their homes, shitting on their beds, fucking all their women, emptying their safes, and then laughing in their faces.

They will not rest until he is destroyed, they don't care how it happens, they cannot be dissuaded or reasoned with, and they have no concern for the consequences.

Trump/Ahab 2024!

Very eloquent!

I think it added insult to injury that no one saw that upset coming, and the shock and surprise set their Trump Derangement Syndrome in stone.

I kind of know how they feel because I used to be one of them. Thankfully, having recovered a degree of objectivity, I can see how deranged they actually are.

"A degree of objectivity" is telling. You're correct that it takes no more than a degree of objectivity to understand that TDS is focused primarily on the D.

Ahab, like the TDS left, can't even articulate their hatred anymore...only that it is total and must be satiated at all costs...

- Promotion

- feted at all the right parties

We live in a post religious society. There is no final judgment. Just the now and what you can get away with to make your life more pleasant. That mean pleasing the current powers that be. Do you think the monsters that unleashed COVID due to their ineptness lost any sleep? No, they got promoted and feted. Thy will be safely dead when the truth comes out. so who cares? So without a twinge of conscience, silly old thing, they spared no effort to destroyed those who saw the truth and spoke up while propagating the lies to their continuing benefit.

I’m not convinced that Trump himself is as much the polarizing figure as he’s been made out to be from all the lies told about him by the powers that be- the ones that don’t want him in any position of power, due to not being a willing puppet to the masters.

This is all so insanely short-sighted. No potential thought to how this can backfire in the long run.

The way to beat Trump is to run a GOOD candidate against him.

They don't think about the implications in the long run because they don't believe they will ever NOT be in power.

That’s the whole point. They think that if they eliminate Trump (by ANY means necessary), then they will be in power forever.

They think that they DESERVE to be in power....forever.

What neither political party seems to have realized is that the way to win an election is to run a candidate people actually want to vote for. With policies that, you know, people actually support.

Or is this another case of the Democrats doing what they can to ensure that Trump is the nominee? Similar to primarying the Trump candidate against incumbent Republicans. Granted, I don't think this to be the case, but it could be.

I think they overestimate the importance of the legacy media, they're only self-important now. And the efforts to suppress alternative voices as so far not proven fruitful and often backfired.

I only partially agree with your comment because the people who are interested in, and paying attention to, current events can easily get real news and avoid the liberal media filter. The problem is that many people pay little attention to what’s happening and get their news and commentary in snippets from the legacy media and liberal web outlets like Yahoo, MSN, YouTube, etc. who all parrot the same narrative (in many cases with identical wording).

These are the people that Rush Limbaugh called the “low information voter “ and they are the ones who have their opinions formed by the legacy media and associated liberal websites.

They can also be the deciding factor in a close election.....

Expand full comment
Ministry of Truth's avatar

I'm not so sure about that, the filtered media is just background noise while you can feel everywhere that the economy is in the shitter and that's something people pay a lot more attention to, it affects them far more than the weird antics of Trump and prosecutors. I think the polling also shows this.

I agree with Mark. the MSM still has a lot of power. The power of Trump versus his rivals is his ability to connect with people who otherwise would be in thrall. He's not my cup of tea but that power is why the establishment truly fears him and will do anything to stop him.

Ministry of Truth's avatar

We'll see. One very unique thing about Trump is that even though he is very famous he doesn't seem to need to be liked as much as other famous people. That's why the corporate media never really managed to beat him down, he never tried to make the core audience like him, he never apologized and never changed his behavior. And the corporate media prioritized ratings over defeating him because money and relevance is more important. The establishment doesn't trust the media, that's why they're going after him in the courts.

Let's not forget that in 1920, Eugene Debs received over 900,000 votes for president while he was *in prison*.

Debs was in prison for encouraging draft resistance during World War I, arguably more treasonous than whatever Trump is accused of.

Disclaimer: I am no Trump supporter. I have always loathed Donald Trump.
