David Frum's metaphor is apt: For the elite Viennese, it wasn't that the young men were dying futile deaths in muddy trenches, that the Hapsburg empire was crumbling into fragments, that Austrian culture would never return to its past preeminence. It was that the David Frums of Vienna would be deprived of the full range of perks due to people of their status, and would have to take their coffee with milk instead of cream.

John Kennedy is such a hoot! He's a quintessential southern gentlemen with a flare for cutting people down to size. Hopefully AOC can follow those shampoo directions!

So according to David Frum we are supposed to nostalgic for Biden in the way the Austrians were nostalgic for the guy who unleashed a world war that undid decades of economic progress and destroyed the empire they were living in?

It’s hard for Liberals to be coherent when the fines of their coffee & cream are affecting their brains.

Before we laugh, we should investigate exactly how he defines "merit".

'And we chose a felon because we didn’t want to elect a black woman.'

Speaking for myself, and I suspect many others, the blackness and the womanness had absolutely *nothing* to do with it.

Saying that I don’t want Kamala Harris in the White House because she’s a black woman is like saying that I don’t want Donald Duck in the White House because he’s a duck.

There's so much crazy in this edition:

Rep. Jasmine Crockett doing what obtuse Democrats do and defending immigration because we need immigrants to do the work people like her and her constituents don't want to.

Abby Phillip making what sounds like a "a civil offense is the good kind of illegal" claim.

James Carville can only guess at what the comeuppance will be for people who aren't resisting Trump, but he'll refer us to what happened to the collaborators in post WWII France and imply that backing Trump is the comparable to supporting Nazis.

Yes, Professor Glaude. People didn't vote for Kamala Harris because she's black. Not because they found her answers lacking or disingenuous or weren't buying into the mandatory joy promoted 24/7 by the media, or because they're tired of being lectured by elite progressives or wanted someone to address the border or were tired of living under a censorious alliance of government, Big Tech, academia, and think tanks or because they just liked Trump better. It's because she's black and we're all racist.

Invariably, I have to determine who is being quoted because what I'm reading describes what we've been living through with Biden, and starting with Obama or before, and yet they are attributing their comments to the infancy of Trump's presidency..... TDS.

“How do you think [Elon Musk] got to where he’s at? I have people who come up to me and say ‘Maxwell, why would they be stealing? Elon Musk is already the richest person in the world, he has enough money.’ The question is how do you think he became the richest person in the world?

I know, once upon a time every family in America had a few shares of Tesla, then Elon came along and stole those shares right from them. I think it's kinda understandable if you come from government where the only way you can get money is to take it by force from someone else that they are entirely incapable of understanding how wealth is actually built or even just how multiplication works...

"“We chose a felon who is more interested in loyalty, who is more interested in retribution, who is more interested in grift than in democracy. And we chose a felon because we didn’t want to elect a black woman. "

So either the whole country hates black women (even though most AWFL worship them almost as much as trannies) or more than half the country thought that that particular black(ish) woman was worse than a nazi rapist orange felon with bad hair. The "do what I want or I'll call you a racist" spell seems to lose its power.

Tangential comment. I can never think about shampoo without remembering the (possibly) apocryphal story that "lather, rinse, repeat" was a brilliant marketing ploy that doubled shampoo sales overnight.

Not sure what this says about either Kennedy or AOC.

“The entire country as we know it is on the line with these people and they are in a full-on effort to turn the government into a gangster state. And [the Democrats] doing everything in [their] power to disable the crime and corruption-fighting capacity of the FBI and the Department of Justice so [they] can just use it to go after [their] political adversaries. But meantime, the real corruption is just running amok. These people are not opponents of corruption, waste, fraud, and abuse as they keep saying, they are agents of corruption and instruments of waste and fraud throughout the government.”

There, fixed it.

Jaime Raskin used the power of the DOJ to relentlessly go after his political opponents and gleefully selected a partisan group of hacks to do so. There is hopefully a special place in hell for these scum miscreants. This is my old party. I'm so glad journalists like Brad uncovered the festering pile of shit which envelops the Democrats.
