"Summer COVID surge shows we may have to return to 2020 pandemic measures"
I read the whole article, which will probably be republished every year, as media tries to return to the giddy highs of 2020 when every doomsday headline got millions of clicks. Nothing in the article even rings true -- from hospital overcrowding to supply chain disruptions. And of course the writer had to include a political dig about "areas where government leaders downplayed covid" being hit the worst. This is all SO incredibly tiresome!
They're having trouble getting traction with everything they try like monkeypox and avian flu. They should realize that most people are sick unto death, although not literally, of Covid.
And of course there's equine encephalitis and west nile virus. But it's not going to fly for them this time. Fauci needs to come up with something a lot more deadly for anyone to care.
"shitting your pants and changing your shirt"...perfect! And who knew Nicole Hannah Jones was a certified MacArthur Genius? And Comey is one loathsome, delusional dude.....
Her genius consists of being born with darker-than-white skin (well, and knowing how to milk the White Guilt Industrial Complex)—tokenism is a sacred belief for our progressive oligarchy, it makes them feel compassionate and displays their obvious inherent superiority over the evil white Deplorables.
If Trump wins, he's looking at prison time, along with Gina Haspel, John Brennan, James Clapper, and many others -- and he knows it. Whatever security Trump has, it's not enough.
"“This was in fact the expected outcome. And what’s so tragic about it, there are those folk who are reading this outcome as an example of what happens when ‘merit’ is taken as the principle deciding factor, when in fact this is proving the opposite."
Well, we know for sure what Nikole Hannah-Jones values: Government is your parent for life.
James Comey with the anti-endorsement.
That The Hill opinion piece on the possible need for a return to Covid-era lockdowns: The author is Aron Solomon, who is chief strategy officer for a marketing firm for lawyers. It has just 26 followers on LinkedIn.
Look him up on Muck Rack, and see that he contributes hundreds of opinion pieces to outlets including The Hill and Newsweek, the latter of which published a Solomon article saying the government needs to step in and take action against Elon Musk for spreading misinformation.
I have to comment about the criticism of how Vance handled his dog. I watched the clip and it showed that Vance has a well-trained, well-behaved dog. I have trained service dogs and train and compete in agility. Walking up the stairs to a plane is not a natural thing for dogs, even if they regularly use regular stairs; most dogs would have to be trained to do that. The way Vance's dog went up those steps was how most trained dogs would do it. Everything I saw on the clip showed that Vance had complete control over his dog. There are lots of bad dog trainers -- its easy to find one if you want to make a political point.
They didn't ask dog trainers, they asked "professional" dog walkers. That's an after-school job for kids, not really a profession. Let's ask that elementary school kid with the juice stand about Inflation - headline: "Small business owners praise Harris economic plan, call Vance mean doody-face"
There is a stick. It is stuck in the mud. It is not a tree. It is not even good firewood as it is moist from the mud. It is worthless except maybe in its eventual decay it provides some nutrients for the next round of life.
No, not really Jim. It is the media political establishment that made you feel. No Democrat felt good about Harris before the establish took over in their well-coordinated Harris deity making project.
But one thing is clear, it is you feeling types that are so easily ideologically captured and hence are a threat to democracy.
Excellent point. There's also this great description:
"At the moment, Kamala Harris is in the enviable and very unusual situation of having been a black hole which has turned supernova: dragging all the light into its apparent emptiness only to explode suddenly in a great glaring star which lights up the entire Democratic universe. And, across the Atlantic, the people who are always wrong are also transfixed at the fireworks of joy streaming across from America. It is inspiring, it is wonderful – it is absurd."
Read the Atavist article about Klamath County and couldn't help but think about the recently completed removal of the Klamath dam and the shuttering of pretty much the entire Oregon lumber industry (7 Oregon lumber mills closed this year alone). Places like Klamath are never going to be places where people flock for opportunity, but neither does it have to be like it is now. I'd have loved for the author to cite some sort of crime statistics during the eighties and nineties when the dam was in operation and there was still a forestry industry to speak of, because I doubt it was always like this. Populous mismanaged states and cities draw much of our attention, but the tragedy of purposeful rural mismanagement is no less heartbreaking.
I don’t understand why no one has stood up & said that Kamala Harris is clearly marijuana damaged. That she is damaged is clear & people should pay attention to this now & today & it deserves attention. sheesh
What makes you say she is Marijuana damaged? How about Vodka damaged? To me, she is not damaged, but she is caught up in a world of pressure to play the role her handlers have defined
Could also be anti-anxiety meds. She seems to be in way over her head and generally a socially awkward person. Reminds me a bit of Angela Merkel although Merkel at least was pretty intelligent.

my understanding is that it was written by "experts." experts at selling remote teaching solutions.
where would we be without them?

The Covid hysteria will be a hard act to follow.
They need something like anthropogenic climate change, which is longer term and doesn't have immediately observable counterfactual effects.
More! More!
This is my favorite blog of the week!
Glutton for punishment? lol
"shitting your pants and changing your shirt"...perfect! And who knew Nicole Hannah Jones was a certified MacArthur Genius? And Comey is one loathsome, delusional dude.....
Why is it that every MacArthur “genius” grant winner is an utter moron? Do they have a special IQ test that nobody else knows about?
Her genius consists of being born with darker-than-white skin (well, and knowing how to milk the White Guilt Industrial Complex)—tokenism is a sacred belief for our progressive oligarchy, it makes them feel compassionate and displays their obvious inherent superiority over the evil white Deplorables.
White Guilt runs America!
I'm in the process of getting my mentally challenged pet rock certified as a MacArthur genius.

Every week I’m like 😮🙄😲😒
That's about right

Another week, another "huh?"
Glad I wasn't the only one scratching my head.
Yep, I guess they can say anything they want even when it makes absolutely no sense..

Good catch! I missed that! No wonder the commentary was idiotic!
There is a stick. It is stuck in the mud. It is not a tree. It is not even good firewood as it is moist from the mud. It is worthless except maybe in its eventual decay it provides some nutrients for the next round of life.
That is Harris.
The media is making her into a tree.
But she is still a stick. Stuck in the mud.

Nikole Hannah-Jones proves that the standards for Genius are like the Old Gray Mare: She ain't what she used to be.

Fortunately, cameras don't get to vote.
