“Senate staffer alleged by conservative outlets to have had sex in a hearing room is no longer employed.”

This is a prime example how the media doesn't straight out lie, none of the statement is false but it tells a completely different story from what actually happened. I wonder why they didn't also point out that the staffer is gay.

“[Trump]...keeps Hitler’s speeches at his bedside...."

LOLOLOL

The only thing on Trump's nightstand is a large mirror, various McDonald's wrappers, and a giant bottle of Viagra. And if there's a book anywhere in his bedroom, it has his face on its cover yet has never been read.

By next fall the cast of clowns on MSNBC will only be speaking in tongues.

Fascinating story about the climbing accident in the 70s. Except for one glaring error which the New York Times should never have made. The camera model is *Nikkormat*. There's no such thing as a Nikomat.

Further thoughts on finishing the story: as someone who owned and operated a custom color photo lab in the 1970s-1990s, the technical details had me screaming through that part of this article. I suppose that old chemical technology seems quaint in this digital age.

"Infrared light" would've exposed color film, which had to be processed in total darkness through the initial first developer, which was black and white, part of the standard process (not "a safer way to get results"), which at the time was probably E3 for the pictured Ektachrome film. As for the rest of the description, "After determining the contrasts were sharp enough, they were processed in color", it's pretty meaningless, but probably of no interest to readers here.

Thank goodness Johnson was not a Kodachrome snob because that process was a lot more proprietary and difficult.

I owned several Nikkormat cameras, which were indeed robust and reliable.

The article about Claudine Gay is quite interesting, it's very notable that most of what she did at Harvard was window dressing and appearance, making Harvard look less white. Lowering tuition and abolishing legacy admissions might have been the better approach for more diversity. Instead, the results of her work and most of the DEI work is that a degree from Harvard is only worth something if you're white or Asian - otherwise the assumption is that you got in and pulled through for your skin color. This is of course great for the (presumably mostly white) legacies and in some way a perpetuation of privilege.

Thought I'd just edit one of your quotes a little: “Senate staffer will no longer film himself having gay sex in a hearing room we can now confirm.”

Nothing better than a short quote that says it all- “Nikki Haley is a brunette Liz Cheney”. Perfect!

As usual, love the roundup.

Merry Christmas!

There is so much & most of it centers in the matter that James Bennet sagely observes. That American media, chiefly concerns itself with creating a narrative of our country which is a fiction of the Liberal Aristocracy Elite. It is a power play to destroy our democratic republic. And only the laptop loud latte drinking liberals still believe it.
