Progressives make a point of hiring black people because of their skin color. And then when someone says "hey, maybe that black person was hired because of her skin color" they cry racism. Mind boggling. If you don´t want folks to wonder if someone was a DEI hire, stop promoting DEI.
Well, in their defense, whenever they feel sad, scared or angry they call someone or something RACIST! It's like how when a baby cries you know you need to change their diaper.
We have only 2 choices in modern America: either be a regime loyalist or a RACIST!
From Michael Malice: "The amazing thing about diversity hiring is that we are simultaneously encouraged to practice it as much as possible while also pretending no given person has been the recipient of it".
Biden has said it explicitly that she was picked because of DEI. Granted, in their mind it's also always the most competent person who is hired because the most diverse candidate must also be the most competent.
Did Joy Reid just do a "If you don't vote for Kamala, you ain't black" move? She really does admire Biden.
Did no one tell the headline writer at Politico that "Republican's pounce" is a self-own for being such a tired cliche?
Kudos to the judge that told the Just Stop Oil folks that thinking they have the moral high ground doesn't entiitle them to bypass the structures of civilzed society.
Always enjoy these Brad. Loved the quote from the British judge (damn, but that's an excellent foundational speech for the sentence levied) and the link to the Ukrainian infantry story.
"Changing horses in midstream is rarely wise. But it's another matter entirely when the stream is the Rubicon and it's the warrior on the horse.......".......reluctantly, I have to almost admire the infinite chutzpah, the smooth, instantaneous mid-air reorientation of leftist positions....amazing.
I found the whole mixing and torture of the metaphors really weird. The idiom is that when you find yourself riding a dead horse you should get off and even changing horses is a prudent strategy if you want to go far, crossing the Rubicon is reaching the point of no return and lead to Caesars dictatorship. It's a very strange way to try and make the point that picking Harris at this time was the right call.
"I think that as long as they see Americanness as the same as one with whiteness, this is going to continue.” — New York Times editorial board member Mara Gay, in an interview with MSNBC
This is the common dog whistle that Republicans have failed to call out as hateful class bias against the working class and poor.
This election is the people against the ruling class. Republicans are missing the opportunity to brand the Democrats as the party of the ruling class and the Republicans the party of the people. The reason is that there are still 30% of Republicans that are just Democrats in a different suit and they are committed to keeping their mitts on the spoils derived from the globalist, corporatist cabal that the Democrats protect and support.
One-note singers like Mara Gay make evident the soul-selling "deal with the devil" that a certain sliver of educated black people make when they sign onto the ruling white-liberal dispensation:
She gets all sorts of perches and sinecures, social legitimacy, a very nice upscale life, and all she has to do in return is aim a torrent of bigotry accusations at whoever is the regime enemy du jour, which is more often than not white conservatives.
Bigotry accusations backed by the moral weight of black pain are one of America's most important natural resources, which is why they sell for top dollar.
Every accusation is a confession. It's her who makes the connection between an American Flag and "Whiteness", not the people flying the flag. It's her paranoid delusion that it's all a secret message. It's also her class that claims ownership of the country and gets histrionic when the voters disagree because to them democracy is only legitimate if they win.
It’s truly a pity that Southwark Crown Court Judge Christopher Hehir’s words could not be imported here & wall papered across the Democratic National Convention halls & walls. Maybe The Blaze could broadcast it. And maybe some Liberals would read or hear & get it finally.
Yeah, and maybe flying monkeys might shit themselves out of Joy Reid’s ass on live television.
He went stark raving mad once Trump got elected. People like him in the corporate media are having a hard time dealing with their increasing irrelevance.
A lot of people lost their minds at Trump's election. It's an interesting phenomenon. It happened to me and a lot of other regular people too. I shudder to consider the vast amounts of time I wasted hate-reading about Trump. Rachel Maddow used to be pretty good, too. It's like everyone drank the Kool-Aid all at once.
Matt Taibbi wrote a whole book about this—Hate, Inc.
“You know, a lot of times the press would say ‘He gets along with Kim Jong Un, North Korea, he’s got a lot of nuclear weapons.’ I got along with him great, you were never in danger with me as your president. It’s a good thing to get along, not a bad thing. "
From the Netflix series The Diplomat. Hal's speech to a room full of British state department equivalents.
"One of the boneheaded truisms of foreign policy is that talking to your enemies legitimizes them. Talk to everyone. Talk to the dictator, and the war criminal. Talk to the poor schmuck three levels down who's so pissed he has to sit in the back of the second car, he may be ready to turn. Talk to terrorists. Talk to everyone. Fail, and fail again. And brush yourself off. And fail again. Because maybe... Maybe. "
Trump is right. Our approach to foreign policy has been stuck on stupid for decades since the Cold War. The ruling class is stuck on stupid. We need to uproot the old guard and get truly progressive in how the US governs itself and how it relates to the rest of the world.
The story about the Ukrainian front understandably leaves out many details. I wish it had emphasized the why of that miserable fight. That as bad as it gets, they are defending against something much worse for their whole nation. The compromise pease solution will require sacrifice by Ukraine or a complete defeat. I do see the strong possibility of small or limited range EMP weapons being brought onto the battlefield. Tragically, more soldiers & civilians will die before there is a realization that both sides are losing. Putin imagines himself a territory gaining tsar of the old cloth & chess playing genius master. He has already given away all of Siberia to China’s Xi, who is a master Go player for the chance to lick the filth off of Xi’s shoes.
One additional problem with a peace deal is the question whether or not Putin would even trust any deal made with the West, especially considering that a following government might just reverse the policy and the deals in the past that weren't honored. I don't know if Putin is really interested in those territories, they seem to be more trouble than they're worth as the Ukrainians have experienced with the long civil war.
From my limited perspective what is interesting about the nomination of Harris is that everyone mentions the preferences of Pelosi, the Clintons, Obama, the donors, House and Senate Democrats, the voters aren't mentioned at all and are just expected to fall in line once the party elites have made their decision. Schumer had the gall to say it was "from the grass-roots, bottom up" - what has changed since 2019 when Harris was soundly rejected in the primaries? How many rigged primaries are Democrat voters going to accept?

There is no third option.

Joy Behar is being fucking ridiculous.
J.K. Rowling is badass.

Yeah - that just oughta go straight into the old Funk & Wagnall’s under the definition of “delisional”
Har har - I’d give anything to have seen these Beltway Blowhards go into the Wayback Machine and try to pull the same dumping on George Washington.

I love JK Rowling.
I'm guessing "The View" could easily have it's own day each week of stupid things said.
These people are just psychopaths with low intellect.
“In brief: Ronny Jackson isn’t a doctor. Which is perfect, because Trump wasn’t hit by a bullet.”
I'm ashamed to admit I used to listen to Olbermann.
Also, does it take a surgeon to put a band-aid on an ear?

A bunch of those quotes are better than ipecac.

Mara Gay is the true gift that keeps on giving.
