For me the moral inversion here as well as the stolen valor is the desperate dishonest attempt to paint this as any kind of "lynching"—simply and only because the skin colors line up.
To compare the evil form of social control of Jim Crow lynching, which was a grotesque application of vigilante justice based on the worst kinds of hateful bigotry, with what went down on that train is a such inflammatory race baiting that you have to be as crazy as a Port Authority Black Zionist to even entertain it.
(And as a Native NYer let me just say that of course that car was filled with people of all races and ages who were scared shitless and of course no one thought it had anything to do with race except for our bottom-feeding media and the shameless vultures of the White Guilt Industrial Complex, who've never met a tragedy they didn't try to monetize. And, also, pls let me add: Port Authority Black Zionists are nuts!)
But there is a real silver lining here: as the election showed, we're moving toward maybe not a postracial America (we can hope) but one that's at least much more ethnically complex than the old Black v White American color line, meaning that the White Guilt Industrial Complex smells trouble and senses that its decades of grift are nearing an end. In 20 years how many Latinos whose families came here in the past 50 years are gonna weep over the same old racial sob stories?
At this point the racialized "Everything is White Supremacy" Left is starting to look like a cargo cult formed by a lost tribe stranded on a desert island who've made a fundamentalist faith out of the Autobiography of Malcom X. Also, their sweaty stupidity has plainly revealed how desperate they are to preen as White Saviors when the more that people of any color get a whiff of our Social Justice anti-Whiteness warriors, the more they run the other way—black people don't need posers like Dave Zirin or Elizabeth Spiers to save them!
Who/Whom color-coded law and morality is a moral inversion that most people hate and that hopefully is on its last legs.
yes i do not have CP talent for a turn of a phrase (or Brad's prose) but the cultishness is obvious in that they are running the same plays even though they do not work anymore. Current example is the CR with the progs and left defending congressional malfeasance fighting tooth and nail to preserve a corrupt system from reform.
Is there no legal mechanism to prosecute or at least deprive Alvin Bragg of his office for directly allowing know criminals to go free to terrorize citizens? Can’t he be sued?
Let's take moment to analyze Rep. Crockett's calmly delivered lunacy on MSNBC:
"If we are really going to say that we believe in justice and equality for all...it doesn't look like because I am Black, or because, let's say I'm brown, or because I'm something other than a white male, then somehow it is ok to kill me."
That's true. Also true: that it has nothing to do with the reason Daniel Penny put Jordan Neely in a chokehold. Neely didn't die because he is black. He wasn't killed because he is black. He died because he was threatening people and Penny decided he should be restrained. Change the Neely's race to white -- does Penny NOT intervene?
And Dave Zirin's attempts at weaponizing empathy notwithstanding, Penny didn't restrain Neely and Neely didn't die because he was "an unhoused Black man," or because he had
"preexisting mental health concerns.” Or because he was a "street performer."
Neely was threatening people. Explain to me what the word "preexisting" is doing there. Not only does Zirin probably earn a handsome salary to make terrible arguments, he apparently doesn't know what certain words mean. What does he think it means in this context? "Hey, Neely's troubled state of mind started long before the subway incident, and everybody is expected to know that, so if he starts threatening people, just let it go. Because preexisting."
For this, there are four types of people. There are people like Neely whom are a danger to other people he encounters when he is in a rage. There are the normal but weak, people that lack the capability to defend themselves from people like Neely. There are people like Penny whom are the strong heroes that protect the normal but weak people. And then there are the non-normal people - those that infest the modern Democrat party - that are a bigger threat to the safety of people than are the people like Neely.
Nicely written Brad! It captured the issues handily. Anarcho-tyrany indeed. The government can't help you but they can hurt you The government allowed Jordan Neeley to commit felonious assault multiple times. When someone stepped up to take action and protect others, the government prosecuted him. It's pretty insane and evident of a broken system. Sadly most people will stand by and do nothing, it's the unusual case where someone intervenes in a life threatening situation. I am heartened that Penny was acquitted, he should never have been on trial in the first place.
This wouldn't have happened if New York City had a court system that did its job instead of letting anarchy reign. They are the problem, yet they needed the white fall guy to be the scapegoat for their abject uselessness. Liberal media has ruined itself with these bullshit smears; everybody sees it for what it is, and I'm here for it.
And, I find it particularly grim that Jordan Neeley's dad who was never there for him, is now trying to cash in with a lawsuit for wrongful death. Liberal city leaders should have accountability for themselves and the way their policies are destroying the cities that they're running into the ground.
Freddie deBoer, a rational progressive, published some relevant comments on his substack recently. Courts did put Neely into mental health treatment as an alternative towards jail, but he was able to walk out of the facility after a few days. Because ableist progressives (not rational) decided it would be harmful to install external locks on doors. Cruel results similar to laws and court cases that disallow involuntary commitment in all but the most egregious cases.
Brad, as others have noted, another very well written analysis.
The thinking of Bragg et al is in line with the Castroist philosophy that it is all about power not justice. The real criminals are those who have been successful and their success is proof of their criminality. the law is an instrument to punish enemies (oppressors) and protect friends (oppressed). thus converting a misdemeanor or accounting entry dispute into 34 felonies with a rigged system is justice as a class enemy is the target. Downgrading murder charges and no bail policies is justice for the victims of the criminal ruling class.
The key is to make sure you are on the right side of the intersectional divide. a lesson Eric Adams is learning the hard way.
Great points. I'm an 87 Grad; Hurtling taught me to swim and Dempsey taught me Cow English. I'd like to think that any one of us would have stepped up like Penny did, but none of us know until put on the spot.
You've asked me for a paid subscription, and I'd like access to your daily writing for a week so I can see if you're a good fit for my interests.

This is excellent. Though I think you are not doing justice to Don Quixote :).
Born in the late 1940s in Australia and raised with traditional English / Australian patriotism and chivalry – not to mention the accompanying strict standards of "proper" behaviour – to witness and read of events such as this instills despair. I wonder how this collapse happened? How did we allow the Orwellian corruption of truth. How did we allow the creeping decay from responsible citizenship to barbaric chaos.
Brad paints a pretty good picture of how this happened: the focus on the self and the woke mind virus infection. At its core I think "Wokeism" and "Identity Politics" is marxism by another name, another method.
I'm hopeful that Trumps victory marks the beginning of the defeat of these cancers on society.
Alvin Bragg is turning the Manhattan court into a 3 ring circus. Next up- Luigi Mangione. I think Bragg charged terrorism to make sure it turns into a circus, providing a soapbox for leftist talking points about health care. They think charging terrorism will result in an acquittal. The defense waived fighting extradition once the actual charges were announced.

Brad killin the game!
Wow! What a great post! You left me speechless…….
lol thanks
all praise to brad, he knows how to push my buttons ;))
Brad+ has yet again presented a dispassionate case to support his thesis.
The left is a cargo cult- perfect!
they really are!
someone needs to tell these people:
The 60s are over mannnnnn

Brad is an amazing writer full of intelligent insights. I think you would find a subscription well worth the money.
well worth the $$$$ just for the Friday update

Tom Wolfe called us the guardians at the gates of the bacchanal in a speech to the corp in 86 I think .
